Job summary

NC Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II (S) in the District 3 Field Office, Williamston, NC. You will assist higher level technicians and engineers in construction contract administration through inspection and testing of materials.

The role may lead small to intermediate projects, performing standardized and non-standardized tests, and maintaining comprehensive records. Candidates should be able to work outdoors and lift heavy loads when required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology or related field.
• Two years of progressive technician experience or equivalent.
• Certifications required to perform material sampling/testing will be pursued.
• Ability to work outdoors, safely and with good record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers in administering construction contracts via inspection.
• Potential lead project inspector on small to intermediate projects.
• Perform tests of materials for acceptance per specs.
• Maintain diaries, reports, pay records and data entry.
• Follow safety program and operate in outdoor construction environments.
