Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Project Manager for oil and gas power generation initiatives in the United States. You will lead teams, coordinate electrical engineering efforts, and drive lifecycle project delivery from initiation to close.

Qualifications include 15+ years in oil and gas, a Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred), PMP/PE certifications, and ability to travel up to 50%. Strong MS Office skills and PLC/Stage-Gate knowledge are required.

Job description

  • Lead teams to implement complex project plans and programs
  • Set up core project teams to achieve project objectives
  • Coordinate technical resources under the Project Life Cycle
  • Develop project reports, presentations, schedules, and costing forecasts
  • Present and implement engineering and operational-efficiency recommendations
  • Prepare, review, and approve requests for proposals, evaluations, and contractor selection
  • Analyze project economics and drive solutions
  • Anticipate issues, assess opportunities, analyze alternatives, and make decisions
  • Develop project solutions that improve economic profit over the project life
  • Run moderate-to-large projects with a focus on quality and business partners
  • Lead project teams and contractors, meeting results and deadlines
  • Lead power generation project scopes, including on-site generation, backup/standby power, and grid-interconnected generation
  • Coordinate electrical engineering for turbines, reciprocating engine-generators, transformers, switchgear, and protective relaying systems
  • Partner with utility and transmission providers on interconnection agreements, load studies, and power delivery requirements
  • Evaluate power generation technology options to optimize reliability, emissions, and lifecycle cost
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in oil and gas engineering/project management
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems fundamentals

  • Experience working with systems up to 345kV

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Solid understanding of PLC/Stage-Gate processes
  • Extensive experience with facility construction or operations in the oil and gas industry
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and Master’s degree in business, project management or engineering management
  • Preferred: PMP, PE, and Microsoft Specialist Project Certification (MS)
  • Preferred: Direct project experience with power generation assets and grid interconnection projects
  • Preferred: Familiarity with NERC/FERC interconnection and reliability standards
