Job summary

EWI Recruitment is seeking a practical Field Engineer to support installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of equipment at customer sites across the UK. You will work independently, diagnose faults and provide clear guidance while meeting safety and quality standards.

The role involves regular travel, occasional overnight stays, and flexible hours to meet urgent deadlines. A valid UK driving licence and engineering background are required for this field-based position.

Qualifications

• Proven field-based engineering, maintenance or technical support experience.
• Engineering qualification or equivalent practical expertise.
• Comfortable reading drawings and schematics; strong technical aptitude.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, commission and maintain mechanical, electrical or technical equipment.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes and perform repairs promptly.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
• Read and interpret drawings, manuals and equipment documentation.
• Provide customers with clear technical guidance and demonstrate operation.
• Complete service reports, risk assessments and expense documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to resolve issues.
• Follow health and safety procedures and quality standards.
