Job summary

Actalent, a global engineering services company, seeks a Project / Field Engineer in Los Angeles to support owner-side construction management on major rail and transit projects. This field-focused role emphasizes site oversight, coordination, and documentation from construction through testing and closeout.

The ideal candidate holds a civil/construction degree and 3–8+ years of relevant experience, with strong communication skills and travel within the LA area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3–8+ years supporting transportation, rail, transit, public works, or heavy civil construction.
• Experience in field engineering, construction administration, inspection, or owner's representative roles.
• Strong knowledge of plans, specs, and contract documents; RFIs/submittals/change management.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections and monitor activities for conformance with plans and specs.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, progress documentation, and field observations.
• Support contractor coordination and construction oversight on active job sites.
• Review and track RFIs, submittals, CLs, and design coordination items.
• Participate in meetings and document key decisions and actions.
• Support quantity verification and contractor pay processes.
• Monitor risks and schedule impacts; assist in recovery planning.
• Coordinate with utilities, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Assist in field changes, change orders, and documentation.
• Maintain records and ensure documentation compliance.
• Promote site safety and adherence to quality standards.
