Job summary

PCL Buildings Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Field Engineer to support project field operations on our Phoenix Buildings projects.

The role emphasizes mentorship, coordination with site leadership, and strong document control across trades. The ideal candidate has an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field and 0–12 months of field experience, with proficiency in MS Office, construction methods, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field (construction management, engineering, architecture) or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 8–12 months of varied field engineer/coordinator experience; internships count.
• Knowledge of construction specifications, methods and procedures (formwork, self-perform, subcontracted work, temporary works, scheduling).
• Ability to solve problems using construction principles; strong verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to write clear technical communications to trade contractors, designers and inspectors.
• Develops and maintains effective partner relationships; proficient with Microsoft Office and construction software.

Responsibilities

• Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifying hazards and corrections; leads by example for health and safety practices.
• Coordinates with the superintendent on workforce planning.
• Maintains project document control; supports project engineers/superintendents in leading trade contractors (RFIs, shop drawings, changes, billings).
• Supervises self-perform scopes; resolves crew sizes, labor tracking and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
• Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns.
• Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
• Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
• Participates in crafting, implementing and supervising the quality plan and ITP.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with all partners.
