Job summary

PCL Buildings Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Project Engineer to support site delivery for Phoenix Buildings projects. You will maintain contracts with trade partners, manage subcontract administration, and help define work scopes while monitoring progress.

The role requires 1–3 years of construction experience, a related degree, strong planning and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate subcontracts and schedules with the project team.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or related field.
• Understanding of construction equipment, drawings, specifications, HSE, quality and materials as per field.
• Ability to apply basic engineering/problem solving principles to construction challenges.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Planning, organizational and time management skills with multi-tasking ability.
• Ability to build a comprehensive schedule.
• Ability to coordinate subcontracts and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contract with select trade partners and is responsible for subcontract administration, including defining work scope and supervising progress.
• Participates in change management and change order processes with pricing and schedule impact assessment.
• Maintains project document control and procedures (RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, as-built drawings).
• Collaborates with the project team lead in supervising design with the submittal schedule.
• Reviews trade partners' submittals for scope and design compliance before forwarding to design for review.
• Coordinates with project manager and superintendent to manage and report on site performance, cost, schedule and quality.
• Prepares and supervises progress claims and estimates.
• Coordinates inventory and tracking of materials and equipment and expedites material orders.
• Assists with site inspections to resolve constructability and coordination issues and ensures AHJ compliance.
• Involved in project closeout, including document archival, maintenance/warranty manuals and deficiencies.
