Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent in frontline field management on our Phoenix projects. You will handle layout, supervise trades, manage lift drawings, safety, and quality control while occasionally working in the field office.

This safety‑sensitive role focuses on hands‑on construction execution and collaboration with the project team. The ideal candidate holds a 4‑year degree in a related field and has at least 1 year of experience, with proficient use of

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and construction software (Excel templates, ProjectSight, Primavera, AutoDesk).
• Past internships in construction are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction.
• Perform production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and report for schedule and cost control.
• Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the superintendent.
• Direct a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries and verify delivery status.
• Inspect materials for quantity, quality and condition and report discrepancies.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Oversee trade partners and guide workforces to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in site safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
• Collaborate with VDC team on scope of work and deliverables for field operations.
• Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
