Job summary

PCL Buildings Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Project Engineer to support project teams on site for building and civil work. You will manage subcontract administration, track submittals, and help drive design coordination with timely responses to the submittal schedule.

The role requires 1–3 years of construction experience and a related degree or equivalent. Strong communication and planning skills are essential for success in a fast-paced, collaborative environment within our employee-owned

Qualifications

1–3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related subject area (construction management, engineering, architecture) or equivalent experience.
Understanding of construction equipment, drawings/specifications, HSE, quality, and materials.
Ability to apply basic engineering/problem solving principles to construction challenges.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Maintain contract with select trade partners and manage subcontract administration.
Participate in change management and change order process, including pricing and schedule impact.
Maintain project document control and procedures (RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, as-builts).
Collaborate with project team lead to supervise design with timely submittal responses.
Review trade submittals for scope and design documentation before forwarding for review.
Coordinate with project manager and superintendent on performance, site HSE, cost, schedule and quality.
Prepare and supervise progress claims and estimates.
Coordinate inventory and tracking of materials and equipment; expedite orders.
Assist site inspections with design team; resolve constructability and coordination issues; ensure AHJ requirements are met.
Support overall project closeout, archival of documents, maintenance and warranty work.
