Job summary

Emerson Power & Water Solutions in Tinley Park, IL is seeking a Field Service Engineer to grow professionally. You will join a team of customer support engineers handling design, installation, and startup of custom control systems at customer sites.

Responsibilities include developing project scopes, performing site walkdowns, coordinating with vendors, evaluating bids, and leading technical meetings. Travel up to 50-75% is required; a BS in engineering or related field is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related STEM degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Understanding basic networking and computer assembly/troubleshooting experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of a working power plant and all sub-systems.
• Be able to travel up to 50-75% of the time. The travel requirement will be seasonal.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Sales team and Customers to develop a comprehensive project scope for custom power and water applications
• Conduct site walkdowns and develop cost estimates for retrofit engineering and installation projects
• Develop technical specifications and coordinate with third-party vendors
• Evaluate contractor bids for installation work
• Manage and coordinate regional projects, including planning and scheduling activities to meet customer and project needs
• Lead technical and project meetings, documenting outcomes clearly
• Design, review, implement, and test control systems for power and water applications
• Develop and maintain control system databases, logic, and operator interfaces
• Support installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites
• Provide technical guidance and engineering support to customers and internal teams
• Build and sustain strong, trust-based customer relationships through clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
