Job summary

HNTB is seeking an intern to assist in engineering inspection for construction projects. You will help monitor conformance to plans and specifications, assist in documenting contractor work, and coordinate quality control inspections on site.

You will read drawings, review daily reports, and support the Resident Engineer with problem-resolution and data gathering. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and learning GPS/Rovers tools for inspection tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

Assists with construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
Coordinates and schedules quality controls inspections.
Observes on-site material testing and coordinates testing and monitoring services.
Performs mathematical calculations for material quantity payments.
Performs basic shop drawing review and ensures procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications to identify discrepancies.
Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy and consistency; documents progress with video/photo.
Consults with Resident Engineer on progress and assists in resolving issues and liaising with the engineer of record.
Keeps up-to-date with industry technology and tools used for inspection work; uses GPS/Rovers to improve inspection accuracy.
Performs office engineer work such as preparing meeting agendas/minutes and tracking RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
Performs other duties as assigned.
