Job summary

HNTB is seeking an Engineering Intern to assist in inspection and documentation of construction activity. You will monitor conformance to plans, specifications, and regulations while supporting project teams in managing daily reports and progress tracking.

Ideal candidates may be current/former HNTB interns with an Engineering background, able to read drawings, perform basic calculations, and coordinate with site staff. This role is on-site in Virginia and supports multiple location projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction field work tasks and ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
• Coordinate and schedule quality control inspections.
• Observe on-site material testing and coordinate testing and monitoring services.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies.
• Review contractor daily reports and document progress with photos/videos.
• Liaise with the Resident Engineer and assist in resolving issues.
• Perform office engineer tasks such as meetings and RFIs tracking.
