Job summary

Vertiv Corporation seeks a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to lead acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high‑voltage power systems up to 500kV. You will conduct short circuit, coordination, arc‑flash, and power quality studies, and calibration of relays, while interpreting complex diagrams and reports.

The role requires NETA III/IV, 7+ years’ testing experience, and travel up to 75% for regional/national projects; a power systems degree is preferred and leadership skills are

Qualifications

• Mandatory NETA III or IV certification in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficient with test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF).
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; willing to travel regionally up to 75%.
• Preferred: power systems degree and leadership/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality studies.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor).
• Test insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance on transformers, switchgear, cables, breakers.
• Interpret results and write comprehensive engineering reports with findings.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians; serve as technical lead on projects.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA.
