Job summary

EWI Recruitment is seeking a practical Field Engineer to support installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment at customer sites. The role involves regular travel to varied locations and may include overnight stays to uphold high technical standards.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking a practical and technically minded Field Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and systems at customer and operational sites. The successful candidate will work across a variety of locations, helping to ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards. This role will involve regular travel and may include occasional overnight stays or out-of-hours support.

Key responsibilities will include carrying out site surveys, preparing technical reports, installing and configuring equipment, completing inspections and preventative maintenance, and diagnosing faults in a timely manner. You will liaise with customers, contractors and internal teams to coordinate site activities, provide clear technical updates and resolve issues effectively. The role will also require accurate completion of service records, risk assessments, method statements and commissioning documentation. You will be expected to follow all health and safety procedures, identify potential hazards and maintain a professional approach when representing the business on site.

Applicants should have relevant experience in field engineering, installation, maintenance, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline. A relevant technical qualification is desirable, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills are essential, as is confidence using hand tools, test equipment and digital reporting systems. You should be organised, adaptable and comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team. A full driving licence and willingness to travel are required.
