Job summary

Datacenter People are recruiting a Field Engineer to support customers across the United States. This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in mission-critical environments within data centers, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and other critical sites.

Responsibilities

Datacenter People are currently supporting a global specialist in liquid leak detection solutions, in the search for a Field Engineer to support customers across the United States.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanical engineer looking to develop hands-on technical experience within mission-critical environments.

The role offers extensive training, exposure to customer-facing engineering work, and the opportunity to travel across the US supporting the installation, commissioning and maintenance of specialist technology used to protect critical infrastructure.

The Opportunity

You will work with industry-leading liquid leak detection systems deployed within data centers, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and other critical environments.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain practical experience across installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support activities, building a strong foundation for a long-term engineering career.

What the Job Involves…

• Supporting the installation and commissioning of leak detection systems
• Assisting with testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding activities
• Providing on-site technical support to customers
• Supporting project delivery from installation through to handover

This is a field-based position requiring regular travel and overnight stays throughout the working week. Candidates should be comfortable travelling Monday-Friday and working on customer sites across the US.

We're Looking for Someone Who...

• Recently graduated, or within the first few years of their engineering career
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• Some experience installing and commissioning electromechanical equipment
• Strong technical curiosity and willingness to learn
• Good interpersonal skills due to customer-facing nature of the role
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
• Comfortable with regular travel and working away from home during the week

Previous internship, placement year, vocational trade, commissioning, maintenance or field engineering experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
