Job summary

Johns Hopkins Health System is seeking an Electronic Security Technician II to install, service, and support enterprise security systems across the Johns Hopkins enterprise and public safety operations. The role focuses on access control, CCTV/VMS, intrusion detection, intercom, and related IT integrations.

The technician works independently in the field, collaborates with IT teams, reads wiring diagrams, and performs maintenance, firmware updates, and asset management to keep systems healthy

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent (Required).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in electronic security, low voltage cabling, IT support, or related field; or equivalent technical training through trade school, military service, or certifications (Required).
• Drivers License Upon Hire (Required).
• Low voltage/security installer license (if required by state regulations). Upon Hire (Required).
• Ability to pass background checks as required by clients and policy.
• Proficient written and verbal communication with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and support enterprise security systems across the Johns Hopkins enterprise and public safety operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and database upkeep.
• End-to-end system health checks—verify video retention and playback quality; ensure current firmware and licenses.
• Maintain records of service, configuration baselines, and asset changes.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and system schematics; collaborate with IT/network teams.
• Work with door hardware, access control interfaces to auto doors, maglocks, electric strikes, and related devices.
