Job summary

UES, located in Montgomery, AL, seeks a Driller’s Assistant to support soil exploration, well installations, and site investigations while operating drilling equipment. You will travel to job sites within the region, with overnight stays possible, and work outdoors with safety as a priority.

The role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, willingness to travel, and adherence to safety policies. A High School/GED is required, OSHA training is preferred, and CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 40-hour OSHA training preferred; must pass and maintain OSHA 40HR certification.
• CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office and Field Data Collection (FDC) software.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents for drilling and safety.

Responsibilities

• Collect and test soil/concrete to project specs.
• Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and functioning.
• Operate drilling-related tools and equipment.
• Perform manual drilling-related tasks and site prep.
• Maintain drilling rigs, trucks, and work areas.
• Complete daily time and labor reports and paperwork on time.
• Maintain company vehicles and schedule oil changes.
• Travel to job sites within region; overnight stays possible.
• Follow safety policies and procedures and OSHA guidelines.
• Adapt to changing schedules, including overnight/weekend shifts.
• Travel as required to regional job sites.
