Job summary

UES is seeking a Driller's Assistant to support geotechnical drilling operations, field testing, and site investigations. You will operate and maintain drilling equipment, assist the drill crew chief, and help ensure testing requirements are met.

The role entails outdoor work, strict safety adherence, and flexibility for overnight or weekend shifts with regional travel. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 to 3 years of Civil/Geotechnical/Environmental Field Services experience preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour training preferred; must pass/maintain OSHA 40HR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Collect and test soil, concrete, and other materials per project specs.
• Ensure testing equipment functions and calibration is up-to-date.
• Operate tools such as pneumatic jackhammers and pressure washers.
• Assemble/disassemble drilling equipment, rig setup, and site prep.
• Maintain rigs, vehicles, and work areas to safety standards.
• Complete daily time and labor reports per policy; travel as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and OSHA guidelines; adapt to shifted schedules.
• Travel to project sites regionally; occasional extended stays for large projects.
