Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking a Driller's Assistant to support geotechnical drilling operations and field investigations. You will operate, maintain, and transport drilling equipment, assist the drill crew chief, and help with documentation and site safety.

The role requires outdoor work in varying conditions, compliance with OSHA and company procedures, and flexibility for overnight or weekend shifts and travel within the region.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 to 3 years of Civil/Geotechnical/Environmental field services preferred.
• OSHA 40HR certification preferred; must be able to pass OSHA 40HR certification.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Field Data Collection software.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Mechanical aptitude, safety-conscious with outdoor fieldwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Collect and test soil, concrete, and other construction materials to project specs.
• Ensure testing equipment functions and stays calibrated per policy.
• Operate tools including pneumatic jackhammers and pressure washers; maintain equipment.
• Assemble/disassemble drilling equipment and assist with rig setup.
• Maintain, clean, and inspect drills, rigs, and vehicles; ensure safety standards.
• Complete daily time and labor reports and submit paperwork on time.
• Travel to job sites regionally; adapt to overnight/extended schedules as needed.
• Perform site cleanup and support with field documentation.
