Optimus Technologies is a clean energy technology company based in Pittsburgh, PA. It produces the Vector System, an advanced fuel system technology that facilitates a seamless transition between standard diesel and biodiesel within a diesel engine. The Vector System is designed for medium and heavy-duty fleet applications and is used by leading municipal and private fleets nationwide, enabling near-zero carbon emissions while reducing fuel and operating costs.

Job Description

Optimus Technologies seeks a Field Diesel Technician to provide first-class service to our customer's Vector System-equipped vehicles. This customer-facing role involves company-paid travel to customer locations for installation, service, and support of the Vector System and SMARTFuel, with comprehensive training provided. The position is hourly ($36.00-$40.62/hour), based in Pittsburgh, PA, primarily at customer sites (70%).

Our field employees work autonomously, contribute to organizational goals, and may liaise with other departments. The role offers growth opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Become an expert on Vector System electronics, software, hardware, and mechanical components.
  • Complete system installations, including OEM component dislocation and relocation within vehicles.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and manuals for installation and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system testing upon project completion.
  • Interact confidently with customers, answer questions, and maintain communication about work progress.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Research and resolve technical issues using internal and external resources.
  • Assist with Vector System component assembly.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty vehicle or equipment installation, diagnostic, or repair experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret detailed schematics and follow work instructions.
  • Experience with hand and power tools; quick learner of new tools.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office or Google tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Diesel certification or equivalent, military experience, or similar.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and GSuite.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong pride in quality work and customer satisfaction.
  • Mastery of installation and service tools.
Other Job Requirements
  • Frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in varied environments.
  • Ability to handle particulates, lubricants, chemicals.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
  • Flexible hours.
