Job Description

Optimus Technologies is seeking a Field Diesel Technician to provide first-class service to our customer's Vector System-equipped vehicles. This customer-facing role involves travel to customer locations for service. Services include installation, maintenance, and support of the Vector System and SMARTFuel, with comprehensive training provided during onboarding.

This hourly position ($36.00-$40.62/hour) is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with approximately 70% of work at customer sites.

Our field employees work autonomously, contributing to company goals and liaising with customers across departments. Opportunities for growth are available.

Responsibilities

  1. Become an expert on the Vector System's electronics, software, hardware, and mechanical components.
  2. Complete system installations, including OEM component dislocation and relocation within vehicles.
  3. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and manuals for installation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  4. Perform system testing after installation or repair.
  5. Interact confidently with customers, answering and directing questions.
  6. Maintain communication with customers about work progress.
  7. Provide troubleshooting and technical support via phone, email, or in person.
  8. Ensure customer needs are met effectively and reliably.
  9. Research and resolve technical issues using internal and external resources.
  10. Assist with assembly of Vector System components.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty vehicle or equipment installation, diagnostics, or repair experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed schematics and work instructions.
  • Experience with hand and power tools; willingness to learn new tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Additional Qualifications

  • ASE Diesel certification, military experience in relevant areas, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty vehicle or equipment diagnostics and repair experience.
  • Extensive electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Moderate computer skills with MS Office or GSuite.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Pride in quality work and customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and diagnostics equipment.

  • Physical activity, including bending, climbing, twisting, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
  • Work in varied environments: office, outdoor, warehouse, shop.
  • Ability to work around particulates, lubricants, and chemicals.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  • Flexible working hours.
