Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects seeks a Construction Inspector for our Kansas City office. You will inspect transportation project sites, document daily progress, and ensure adherence to plans, specs, and contract requirements.

The role requires on-site presence, strong communication, and the ability to travel and stay away for weeks as needed. 2+ years of construction experience preferred and MoDOT exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction-related experience preferred.
• MoDOT Technician Certification is a plus or must be willing to obtain certification.
• Ability to lift and handle 50+ pounds.
• Must be able to travel and stay out of town a week at a time as required.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, details and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect construction projects from start to finish with thorough daily progress documentation.
• Read and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents; report deviations.
• Conduct laboratory and field testing on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials.
• Maintain clear written and oral communication; attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Measure distances and document work completed with accurate calculations.
