Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects seeks a Construction Inspector for our Springfield, MO office to inspect transportation project sites from start to finish. You will document daily progress, measure quantities, sample and test soils, aggregates and asphalt, and report results. You must read plans, identify deviations, and maintain clear records.

Travel is required, including overnight stays as needed. Prior DOT or municipal project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret plans, details, specifications and contract documents.
• Document daily progress, materials, quantities, and testing results to maintain records.
• Strong written and verbal communication to coordinate with owner, landowners and contractors.
• Ability to travel and stay out of town as required for on-site inspections.
• Experience with DOT or municipal projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect construction projects from start to finish, documenting progress.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications and contract documents; report deviations.
• Conduct field testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt and other materials; prepare reports.
