Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks a Construction Inspector for our Transportation team in Pocatello, ID. The role includes on-site inspection, documentation, and QA/QC procedures to support transportation projects.

Responsibilities cover field observation, contract compliance, and preparation of field records and change orders. Opportunities exist for design work during non-construction seasons.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of practices and equipment used on construction projects.
• Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
• Excellent skills in working independently.
• Must multitask, prioritize, and track issues through to completion.
• At least 2 years of construction inspection experience on roadway, bridge, rail, and highway projects preferred.
• Clean driving record.
• Available to work out of town when needed.
• Preferred ITD inspection experience and ITD inspector certifications; ODOT/WSDOT certifications; Experience with ProjectWise and AASHTOWare.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, perform, and monitor construction work activities in the field or office.
• Inspect, observe and ensure a project is constructed per contract plans and specs.
• Maintain accurate daily records (IDRs) of work, labour, equipment, materials, and quantities.
• Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
• Communicate with Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, and field staff.
• Prepare field note records (FNRs) for documenting work and progress payments.
• Coordinate materials sampling and testing.
