Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks a Construction Inspector for our Transportation team in Pocatello, ID. The role includes on-site inspection, documentation, and QA/QC procedures to support transportation projects.

Responsibilities cover field observation, contract compliance, and preparation of field records and change orders. Opportunities exist for design work during non-construction seasons.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of practices and equipment used on construction projects.
• Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
• Excellent skills in working independently.
• Must multitask, prioritize, and track issues through to completion.
• At least 2 years of construction inspection experience on roadway, bridge, rail, and highway projects preferred.
• Clean driving record.
• Available to work out of town when needed.
• Preferred ITD inspection experience and ITD inspector certifications; ODOT/WSDOT certifications; Experience with ProjectWise and AASHTOWare.

The Transportation Business Unit is seeking a Construction Inspector in Pocatello, ID.

This position will provide on‑site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects.This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures. Depending upon background and skills, may have opportunities in project design during non‑construction season work.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate, perform, and monitor construction work activities in the field or office.
• Inspect, observe and ensure a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
• Maintain accurate daily records (Inspector's Daily Reports, IDRs) of the work (labor, equipment, materials on hand, quantities).
• Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
• Communicate effectively with the Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, Project Documentation Engineer, or other field engineering staff.
• Prepare field note records (FNRs) for documenting work completed and progress payments.
• Coordinate for required materials sampling and testing.

What You Bring
