Zusammenfassung

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the Construction, Survey and Utility Division within the General Services Department. You will inspect roadway construction projects to ensure compliance with City, State and applicable standards using civil engineering principles.

This role requires knowledge of asphalt, concrete, drainage, bridges, and survey tasks. Candidates should have a strong eye for detail, good communication, and the ability to work weekends or nights

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of field engineering and roadway maintenance experience.
• Equivalency of education and experience accepted as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of asphalt, concrete, drainage, and roadway components.

Aufgaben

• Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specs, erosion and safety standards.
• Inspect projects for improvements such as sidewalks, drainage, paving, and utilities per plans.
• Respond to inquiries from the public and agencies.
• Reject substandard work and advise corrective actions.
• Prepare daily material and progress reports with photos.
• Prepare monthly pay estimates for projects.
• Maintain records and perform basic construction surveying.
