Job summary

CDM Smith in Wayne, PA is seeking a field Construction Inspector to conduct on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects to verify compliance with design specs, safety codes, and federal regulations.

You will review submittals, monitor progress, maintain daily reports, and coordinate with engineers and clients while traveling 100% and supporting QA, safety and permitting requirements. Previous federal or DoD project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Able to pass a federal background check.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Knowledge of construction processes for large projects.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects to verify compliance with design specs, safety codes, and federal regulations.
• Documents inspection results, including deficiencies and required actions, and samples as needed.
• Reviews submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications with engineers and project teams.
• Monitors progress, prepares daily reports and status updates, and issues deficiency notices.
• Oversees field construction services, ensuring safety, QA, and permitting compliance.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and project closeout activities.
