Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to perform on-site inspections of construction and related civil projects in the Nashua area. You will verify compliance with design specifications, safety codes and federal regulations, and document results with clear recommendations.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in construction, strong drafting interpretation, and excellent technical writing. Domestic travel is required, with a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• At least 5 years of relevant construction experience.
• US citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Collaborative with engineers, inspectors and project management teams.
• Willing to travel domestically (100%); travel overseas possible.
• Familiar with QA tools such as eCMS and RMS/QCS.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site inspections of construction and maintenance projects to verify compliance with design specs and safety codes.
• Documents inspection results, deficiencies, deviations and necessary corrective actions.
• Reviews submittals, RFIs, shop drawings and material certifications with engineers and PM teams.
• Monitors progress, prepares daily reports and project status updates.
• Inspects construction materials and testing processes to ensure compliance.
• Oversees field services, ensuring safety, environmental and permitting requirements.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings and design reviews.
• Mentors junior professionals and coordinates between contractors, engineers and clients.
