Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field-level inspector to conduct on-site inspections of construction and related civil projects, verifying compliance with design specifications, safety codes, and federal regulations. You will document findings, coordinate with engineers, and support project management in coordinating field services.

Responsibilities include reviewing submittals, monitoring progress, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• At least 5 years of construction experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and contract documents.
• Wamiliar with large-scale commercial/m municipal/federal projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with design specs, safety codes, and regulations.
• Document inspection results, deficiencies, and required corrective actions.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications with engineers.
• Monitor construction progress; prepare daily reports and status updates.
• Inspect materials and testing processes for compliance with specs.
• Coordinate field construction services and enforce safety/quality controls.
• Perform site investigations and review data/maps/drawings as required.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and project closeout activities.
• Ensure compliance with permits and deliver technical documentation.
• Develop and mentor junior staff; liaise between contractors, engineers, and clients.
• Perform other duties as required.
