Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Construction Inspector to conduct on-site inspections of civil projects (roads, bridges, facilities) and verify compliance with approved designs, safety codes, and regulations. You will document deficiencies, review submittals, and coordinate with engineers and project management teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant construction experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and verify compliance with design specs, industry standards, safety codes, and federal regulations.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications with engineers and project teams.
• Monitor construction progress and prepare detailed daily reports, deficiency notices, and project status updates.
• Inspect materials and testing processes to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Oversee field construction services and ensure safety, environmental, quality control, and permitting adherence.
• Develops, trains, and mentors junior construction professionals and liaises between contractors, engineering staff, and client.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and project closeout activities.
