Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a construction inspection professional to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on on-site inspections of civil projects, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety codes, and federal regulations.

You will review submittals, monitor progress, and produce detailed reports. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, ability to travel domestically, and strong proficiency in interpreting drawings and contract documents.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Able to pass a federal background check.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes for large projects.
• Excellent organizational and detail orientation.
• Comfortable with computers/tablets/phones.
• Strong technical writing and oral communication.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Domestic travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects to verify compliance.
• Document inspection results including deficiencies and deviations from design.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and certifications with engineers and PM teams.
• Monitor progress and maintain daily reports, deficiency notices, and status reports.
• Inspect materials and testing processes to ensure compliance with specs.
• Coordinate field services, ensuring safety and quality controls.
• Conduct site investigations and review relevant data and drawings.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with permits and regulations; deliver technical documentation as required.
• Develop, train, and mentor junior construction professionals; liaison with contractors and clients.
• Perform other duties as required.
