Job summary

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) seeks qualified individuals for the Transportation Public Concessions Inspector role in the Concessions Unit, Office of Contracts & Agreements. The inspector performs daily inspections of service plaza buildings, grounds, and operations to ensure compliance with contracts and health and safety codes.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in the management of a food service facility.
• Management is defined as being the owner, manager or assistant manager of a restaurant, food service operation, minimart or other area where food is served.
• Substitutions allowed: college training in hotel and restaurant management, food service management, business administration or related field may substitute for General Experience; two years of inspection experience in food service operations may substitute for General Experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of buildings, grounds, and operations of service plazas to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and health and safety codes.
• Inspect roofs and tight spaces using ladders; document inspection results on tablet software.
• Travel extensively between work locations from Newington headquarters, with a State vehicle provided.
