Job summary

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Field Communications Technician to install, test, and maintain SCADA, EMS, RTUs, IEDs, and related networking gear in Weatherford, TX. The role covers telecom systems, fiber optics, and protection circuits, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and member cooperatives, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support critical transmission infrastructure across Texas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in electronics or related technology preferred.
• Networking certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain SCADA, EMS, RTUs, IEDs, routers, switches, AMI/DA systems, and substation automation.
• Support Ethernet, TDM microwave, GPRS, two-way radio, power line carrier, and unlicensed wireless links.
• Install and maintain fiber‑optic systems, power line carrier equipment, line tuners, and protective relaying circuits.
• Maintain sites—generators, ATS units, battery banks, HVAC, security, dehydrators, and tower lighting.
• Keep firmware and software updated across SCADA, microwave, network, and testing devices.
• Prepare and maintain test reports, configuration files, and field redline drawings.
• Ensure compliance with FAA, FCC, and NERC maintenance and documentation requirements.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation for emergency and unscheduled system support.
• Work closely with engineering, operations, member cooperatives, vendors, and circuit providers.
