Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a skilled Combo Welder to perform GTAW and SMAW on piping and structural components in live field environments. You will work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and schedule-critical conditions, ensuring code-quality welds and adherence to safety rules.

The role requires 4–7+ years of field welding experience, strong understanding of WPS and weld symbols, and the ability to interpret drawings and field modifications. Competitive pay with field-execution focus.

Qualifications

• Must pass company-required weld qualification tests by QUAL-SOP-14.5.3.
• 4–7+ years of field welding experience in industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of WPS requirements, fillers, interpass temperature control and HAZ.
• Ability to interpret isometric drawings, weld symbols, and field modifications.
• Experience welding Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Chrome and other alloys.
• Assist pipe fitters with installation, preparation, and fabrication while not actively welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform GTAW/SMAW welding in all positions under field restrictions.
• Complete welds on piping and structures per WPS requirements.
• Execute welds, repairs or other tasks safely and efficiently.
• Perform weld prep, fit-up assistance, and finish cleanliness in tight spaces.
• Maintain weld quality despite wind, weather, and restricted access.
• Follow site safety rules, permits, and hazard controls.
• Read and follow WPS, P&IDs, ISO drawings, weld maps, and material specs.
• Document weld numbers and material verification; report issues promptly.
• Meet daily weld count and productivity targets; coordinate with crews.
