Job summary

Farmers Furniture in the United States seeks a collections-focused associate to locate, contact, and secure payments from delinquent accounts. This role requires traveling to customers’ homes for payment collection and supports potential repossession processes with managerial guidance.

You will balance cash drawers, document communications, and assist in CRM and sales floor tasks while maintaining quarterly quotas and upholding company values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; six months experience in payment collections or general office procedures.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Ability to locate customers and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Send text messages, mails form letters and/or late charge notices to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
• Confer with customers by text or telephone attempting to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer in an attempt to gain payment.
• Document all correspondence and attempted correspondence with customers concerning accounts.
• Receive payments and post amount paid to customer’s account.
• Maintain and balance their assigned cash drawer and ensure the drawer is locked when unattended.
• Travel to customers’ homes to collect on late payments; assist with repossessions of merchandise as needed.
• Prepare paperwork prior to legal action to be initiated against severely late-paying customers.
• Initiate credit investigations by telephone for new credit account applicants under the direction of the Credit Manager.
• Log details of work activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Receive various documentation and reports; review, process, respond, distribute, and file as appropriate.
• Operate a computer, printer, calculator, etc. to complete essential functions including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Log customer service requests into PQA and schedule merchandise repairs for customers.
• Assist customers on the sales floor and participate in CRM updates.
• Maintain an acceptable sales quota as established in store goals.
• Comply with Store Operations Customer Service Counter and Telephone Standards.
