Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Field Chemist to sort and transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, ensuring safety and compliance on every project in the region. You will report to the Field Office and travel to projects with responsibilities that emphasize health and safety, proper packaging, and customer communication.

Qualifications include an Associate's degree (or higher preferred), 2+ years of related experience, a valid driver's license with potential to obtain a Class B CDL

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience (required)
• Previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste (preferred)
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date (required)
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to Company standards (required)
• Due to potential exposure to atmospheres/waste/materials, candidates must be clean shaven to wear a respirator

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies and safe practices.
• Assists in segregation of chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials for transportation; completes paperwork for each job.
• Determines supplies needed and travels to various sites to perform lab pack services.
• Assists in characterizing materials at field project sites.
• Maintains proper placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.
• Develops good customer relations by communicating with site contacts at customer locations.
• Directs Field Technicians / Drivers assisting with waste collection.
• Maintains knowledge of high-hazard materials management and cylinder handling.
• Willing to travel to support outside locations as needed.
• Takes on additional duties to support the team and organization
