Job summary

Arcwood Environmental, LLC is seeking a Field Chemist to sort and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring safety and compliance across service projects in the region. The role reports to the Field Office and involves site dispatches throughout the day.

Qualifications include an associate degree (bachelor's preferred), 2+ years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months. Travel to various sites is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience (required)
  • Previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date (required)
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check to company standards (required)
  • Due to safety, candidate must be clean shaven at all times to don a respirator

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies and safe practices at all times
  • Assists in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials in appropriate containers and prepares for transportation; completes necessary paperwork for each job
  • Determines and loads supplies needed for job completion and travels to various sites to perform lab pack services
  • Assists in characterizing materials at field project sites
  • Adheres to proper placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials
  • Develops good customer relations by communicating with site points of contact at the customer location
  • Directs Field Technicians / Drivers who are assisting with waste collection
  • Maintains knowledge of high-hazard materials management and cylinder handling
