Job summary

Arcwood Environmental in Virginia is seeking a Field Chemist responsible for sorting and transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials, ensuring compatibility and safety in all processes. You will travel to projects across the region, reporting to the Field Office and returning each day.

The role emphasizes safety, proper packaging, paperwork, and customer relations at sites. Requirements include an associate degree, 2+ years’ experience, a valid driver's license with Hazmat endorsement

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience required; lab packing or environmental waste preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies and safe practices.
• Assists in segregation of chemicals by hazard class and packs materials for transportation.
• Determines and loads supplies for job completion and travels to sites to perform lab pack services.
• Assists in characterizing materials at field project sites.
• Adheres to placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.
• Develops customer relations by communicating with site contacts at customer locations.
• Directs Field Technicians / Drivers assisting with waste collection.
• Maintains knowledge of high-hazard materials management and cylinder handling.
• Travel to support outside locations as needed.
