Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. in Gainesville, FL, is seeking a CDL Driver (CSX) to operate hi-rail vehicles, support testing operations, and ensure DOT compliance on cross-country assignments.

This field-based role requires extensive travel (3–4 months at a time), strong communication, physical endurance, and the ability to pass DOT and drug screening. Pay starts at $21.60 per hour with overtime opportunities and travel/lodging covered by Sperry.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (3–4 months at a time) within assigned regions
• Operate hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars on roadways and tracks
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain DOT logs
• Assist with rail flaw detection testing and data collection
• Monitor onboard computer data and interpret it for testing operations
• Maintain the vehicle and equipment; ensure cleanliness and organization
• Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and DOT/FRA regulations
• Communicate clearly with crew via radio and report safety concerns
