Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services across electrical, mechanical and communications contracting. The Field Engineer I - Structured Cabling will install and operate low-voltage systems and equipment in client environments, ensuring quality and safety.

The role requires troubleshooting, drawing interpretation, shop drawings, field leadership, coordination with subcontractors and support for pre-construction and estimating efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3-4 years of commercial low voltage/structured cabling experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
• Ability to travel within branch/ regional territory as needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in the field and test system components.
• Interpret advanced drawings, specifications and manuals; create shop drawings and submittals.
• Lead field work with minimal supervision; manage technical tasks in the field.
• Work in-house and on-site as required; oversee project installation and provide advanced support.
• Support sales with product demonstrations and write clear scope notes for bids.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, review scope alignment, and gather proposals.
• Assist Pre-Construction/Estimating to bridge design intent and field feasibility.
• Contribute to project closeout, punch lists, and documentation organization.
• Assist with training and development for field staff and leaders.
