Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services across electrical, mechanical and communications contracting. The Technician I - Structured Cabling I assists in installing outlets, routing cables, and building closets while following quality and safety standards.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and up to 1 year of telecom/technical field experience. Proficiency with listed tools and a willingness to learn are essential for success on site.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of zero (0) to one (1) year experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Must possess and learn to effectively use the listed tools.
• Ability to meet Company minimum driving standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall.
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method and route through modular furniture.
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, determine length, slack and label cables.
• Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
• Build closets: mount/install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
• Install grounding for racks and equipment as required.
• Fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Complete IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time.
• Adhere to all company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
