Job summary

4LEAF, Inc. is seeking qualified building inspectors II or III in Washington. The role focuses on performing technical inspections to enforce building codes and ordinances, with five years of industry experience preferred and ICC/IAPMO/NFPA certifications highly desired.

The work involves on-the-road inspection duties and collaboration with contractors, designers, and property owners. Candidates must have strong communication skills, be able to read and interpret codes, and pass a background

Qualifications

• ICC Certification(s) demonstrating knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes and ordinances relating to building construction, including State Energy and Accessibility regulations.
• Understanding of the accepted safety standards, testing procedures and methods of construction.
• Principles and techniques of building inspection work.
• Basic understanding of the plan checking process.
• Computer knowledge and skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new buildings, additions, and alterations for compliance with current codes.
• Articulate complex building issues to the public, contractors, designers, and owners.
• Identify and solve complex problems by advising developers, engineers, architects, property owners, and contractors on code requirements.
• Field questions regarding building requirements.
• Make independent analysis during the inspection process.
• Advise Planning, Engineering and/or Code Enforcement personnel on building-related issues.
• Read and interpret codes and apply good judgment in enforcement.
• Write inspection reports and correction notices.
• Analyze building plans, specifications and codes for compliance.
• Enforce codes with impartiality and good judgment.
• Apply technical knowledge of building trades.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.
