Qualifications

• ICC Certification(s) demonstrating knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes and ordinances relating to building construction.
• Understanding of the accepted safety standards, testing procedures and methods of construction.
• Principles and techniques of building inspection work.
• Basic understanding of the plan checking process.
• Computer knowledge and skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new buildings, additions, and alterations for compliance with the International Building Code.
• Explain building regulations to the public, contractors, designers, and owners.
• Provide information to developers, engineers, architects, owners, and contractors regarding code requirements and alternatives.
• Field questions regarding building requirements.
• Read and interpret codes and apply good judgment in enforcement.
