Qualifications

• Must obtain Provisional Certification as Inspector within 120 days of hire for assigned trade(s).
• Must obtain a Standard License within two years from the issuance of the Provisional Certification.
• Must maintain State continuing education as required by the DBPR upon license issuance.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction, remodeling, and existing structures for code compliance per state law and county ordinances.
• Reviews construction plans on site for compliance with building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes.
• Enforces all applicable provisions of codes and changes; issues citations for noncompliance.
• Travels to construction sites for field inspections during various stages of construction and remodeling.
• Coordinates with architects, contractors, builders, property owners, and the public to explain code provisions.
