Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years combined field experience in construction, building code inspection or plans review.
• Fingerprinting required.
• Must obtain Provisional Certification within 120 days of hire.
• Must obtain Standard License within two years from provisional certification.

Responsibilities

• Inspects new construction, remodeling projects, and existing structures for compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Reviews on-site construction plans and ensures compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, gas, and mechanical codes.
• Enforces codes, issues citations, and suspends work as necessary to ensure safety and compliance.
• Confers with architects, contractors, builders, property owners, and the public to explain code provisions and requirements.
