Job summary

Thomasville Utilities is seeking a field technician to install and maintain CNS data services for residential and commercial customers. The role includes cable drops, modem provisioning, networking setup, and on-site troubleshooting.

The position emphasizes safety, customer service, and coordination with dispatch, with on-call rotation and the ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be physically able to climb poles and ladders and work at heights.
• Must be able to lift, carry and handle ladders and weights up to 90 pounds.
• Must meet the company’s Driver Safety Standards.
• Must work well with others to provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform new cable installations from feeder tap port to customer equipment interface, including aerial/underground drops and inside wiring.
• Install and provision high‑speed Internet services for new and existing customers via cable modem, including networking.
• Provide Level I data support; troubleshoot cable modem, Ethernet, OS and CPU equipment.
• Install software/hardware to enable customer Internet access and troubleshoot drop-related problems.
• Educate customers on proper operation of interface equipment and company services/costs.
• Coordinate with scheduling, dispatch or supervisors on job status and rescheduling needs.
• Recover company equipment from customer premises during disconnections.
• Maintain safety of company vehicles, tools and equipment per policies.
• Perform on-call duties as assigned.
