Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to work with a clinical team to coordinate care and support recovery for individuals with behavioral health needs. The role is field-based with a home office and requires up to 75% travel within Rhode Island; schedule is generally 8am–5pm, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to work from home when not in the field.

The position emphasizes lived experience, coordination with care managers, and building partnerships with families and community

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Active/current Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or Certified Peer Support Specialist certification in RI or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience with Medicaid population and recovery principles.
• Ability to travel up to 75% within 50 miles of territory.

Responsibilities

• Use lived recovery experience to assist families and consumers in defining recovery goals.
• Support individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Help develop training and education programs with peers, families, and providers.
• Collaborate with Care Managers, providers, and community agencies to facilitate transitions.
• Document interactions in the required documentation platform.
• Engage diverse populations and advocate for consumer rights and needs.
