Job summary

The People Concern is hiring a Housing Navigator to support people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. This fast-paced role operates in the field and at Interim Housing sites, preparing housing applications and coordinating with authorities for permanent housing resources.

You will carry a 20-25 client caseload, develop housing plans, and ensure timely documentation while collaborating with DMH IHP staff and housing partners. A CA driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and one year of full-time homeless services experience.
• Knowledge of homeless social service providers and Coordinated Entry System.
• Able to communicate with subcontractors, housing providers and community partners in a culturally competent manner.
• Detail oriented with strong time management, organizational and writing skills.
• Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
• Current valid CA Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Carry a case load of 20-25 clients to advance housing interventions.
• Develop a housing plan in collaboration with clients outlining needs.
• Complete HMS/Coordinated Entry steps and document progress in HMIS.
• Assist clients with identification, Social Security card, disability verification, and housing paperwork.
• Serve as the client’s point of contact for permanent housing resource matching.
• Coordinate with housing providers, landlords, and authorities to secure units.
