Job summary

Peraton is seeking a full-time background investigator near Baton Rouge, LA. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the city center and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

The role includes extensive travel for in-person investigations, interview scheduling, and record checks, within a team of investigators and a Field Manager. Training lasts 6-7 weeks, combining virtual and in-person sessions to certify in Federal Investigative Standards for government background investigations.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance.
• Experience with federal background investigations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete 6-7 week Investigator training (virtual and in person) to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards.
• Travel daily for in-person background investigations to assess employment suitability for access to sensitive or classified information.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, and associates.
• Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, schools, financial and health facilities.
• Type and report information into government systems clearly and concisely.
