Job summary

Peraton is seeking a full-time background investigator near Montgomery, AL. The role requires residence within 50 miles of the city center and involves travel to conduct investigations for sensitive or classified U.S. Government information access.

The position includes a 6–7 week training program (virtual and in-person), independent fieldwork, and reporting in government systems. A Top Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and dependable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Daily local travel is required and TDY travel may be needed.
• Home office located within 50 miles of Montgomery, AL.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full-time 6–7 week new Investigator training virtually and in person.
• Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations for government access.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers and others.
• Perform record searches at police, courts, educational and financial institutions, and health facilities.
• Type and report findings in a clear government system.
• Work independently within a team and report to a Field Manager.
