Job summary

Peraton is hiring a full-time Background Investigator in Lafayette, IN. The role requires you to complete a multi-week training and conduct daily travel for in-person investigations with government clients. You will interview subjects and collect records to determine employment suitability for access to sensitive information.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, capable of obtaining Top Secret eligibility, and willing to work from a home office with TDY travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree.
• Preference for candidates with federal background investigations experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full-time 6–7 week Investigator training (virtual and in-person).
• Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations for government access.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers and others.
• Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, and other institutions.
• Type and report information in a government system with clarity and accuracy.
• Work independently while collaborating with a Field Manager and team.
